On March 21st, at the Health and Sustainable Collaboration Conference, Ms. Zou Fengxian, Vice President of Bureau Veritas Group and General Manager of the System Certification Business Group, was invited to participate in a roundtable discussion on "Joining Hands with Value Chain Partners to Create a Zero Carbon Future". She also discussed the relationship between brand building, high-quality development, and zero carbon value chain with Jiabin from Alibaba, Danone China, and LCA Special Committee, as well as platform based enterprises and consumer goods brands Exploring how to collaborate with upstream and downstream partners in the value chain to jointly achieve the net zero goal from the perspective of supply chain enterprises and product lifecycle emissions. In addition, experts have expressed their insightful opinions on how to address the obstacles and challenges currently faced in promoting the zero carbon value chain, as well as the necessity of introducing relevant standards.

Ms. Zou Fengxian from Bureau Veritas stated:

The supply chain plays an important role in achieving zero carbon value chain, and as a major manufacturing country, China has numerous products that need to be exported overseas. According to Bureau Veritas' understanding of the current market situation, many Chinese enterprises are required by overseas customers to achieve the goal of carbon reduction or carbon neutrality. The requirements put forward by overseas customers are generally more aggressive than China's "3060" target, and with clear bidding requirements, many Chinese suppliers have to carry out corresponding carbon reduction activities. Therefore, from the perspective of domestic suppliers, Bureau Veritas suggests that supplier companies carry out carbon inventory, carbon footprint, and carbon reduction related actions and plans in advance to respond and prepare in advance. In addition, high carbon emitting enterprises will also face the risk of carbon tariffs from the European Union. Suppliers need to have forward-looking awareness in climate change and make preparations and layouts in advance. The first step is to carry out carbon inventory work, understand the main emission sources and carbon emissions in their production process, and carry out appropriate emission reduction measures based on data analysis.

As an officially recognized third-party audit and evaluation institution by the Climate Bond Organization, and also a UN approved clean development mechanism (CDM) and European carbon emission trading mechanism (ETS) compliant audit institution, Bureau Veritas has more than 10 years of technical accumulation in carbon knowledge and can assist enterprises in addressing the shortage of carbon professionals. At the same time, every year and every month, Bureau Veritas will launch many open courses and internal training courses on carbon management with different themes, including carbon inventory, carbon footprint, carbon neutrality and other courses. Professional training can cultivate managers with professional carbon technology for enterprises.
