Bureau Veritas was invited to attend the 2022 China tic conference of China trade in services to explore how to realize ESG investment
From August 31 to September 5, 2022, the 2022 China International Trade in services Fair was successfully held in Beijing. On September 5, during the same period of the trade in services conference, China entry exit inspection and Quarantine Association hosted the 2022 China Inspection and testing certification Conference (hereinafter referred to as "TIC conference"). This event aims to promote the high-quality and sustainable development of the tic industry. Ms. Zou Fengxian, general manager of Bureau Veritas certification business group, was invited to share a keynote speech on how to realize ESG investment for the on-site guests by video.
With the increasingly prominent global environmental problems, investors have gradually realized that enterprise environmental performance may affect enterprise financial performance, and enterprise environmental performance has gradually become one of the bases for investment value judgment. The investment concept of environment, society and corporate governance (ESG) refers to not only paying attention to the return of capital, but also paying attention to the fields where the capital is invested and the impact of investment on social economy. Compared with traditional indicators such as corporate profitability and financial status, ESG evaluation focuses on examining corporate value and social value from a non-financial perspective, so as to seek a stable long-term return. Many international institutions and organizations have put forward their own ESG evaluation frameworks. The connotation of these evaluations is basically the same, but the difference lies in the classification and specific indicators in various fields.
Zou Fengxian, general manager of Bureau Veritas certification business group, said: ESG investors want to see the invested company operate in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible, while adhering to a high standard of corporate governance. It is a positive and good force to promote the world to become a better place. ESG investment is not a temporary trend, but a general trend!
From the environmental dimension
Enterprises mainly pay attention to environmental management ability, environmental information disclosure and negative environmental events in production and operation. Enterprises can vigorously develop their green transformation through green products, green factories, product carbon footprint (ISO 14000, ISO 50001, ISO 14064, ISO 14067, SBTI), green finance and other ways.
From the social dimension
Enterprises mainly judge whether a company has a positive impact on social responsibility by focusing on compliance and health and safety in employee management (ISO 26000 social responsibility standard, HSE Management), paying attention to privacy protection in customer management (gdpr data protection regulations, ISO 22701 privacy information management system), whether product management conforms to relevant standards and policies, and whether it is active in public welfare undertakings.
From the perspective of corporate governance
The main concerns include corporate compliance risk management, business sustainability (ISO 22301 business continuity management system, ISO 31000 risk management reminder) and business ethics (ISO 37001 anti bribery management system), whether information is disclosed in time in terms of corporate governance, the interests and responsibilities of shareholders and management, avoiding corruption and financial fraud, tax transparency, and the independence and diversity of the composition of the board of directors.
